Wellcome Collection London is a free museum and library near Euston dedicated to exploring health, medicine and human experience through art, science, history and visual culture. Opened in 2007, the institution presents permanent and temporary exhibitions combining contemporary art, historical objects, photography, film, archives, books and personal stories. Its collections include more than 250,000 visual-culture items, from prints and paintings to photographs and digital images. Current exhibitions in 2026 explore ageing, care, mental health, HIV/AIDS and lived experience, alongside the permanent exhibition Being Human. For art travellers, Wellcome Collection offers a distinctive alternative to London’s traditional museums: rather than focusing on a canonical art collection, it uses images, objects and ideas to examine what it means to live in a body and society.
