Begin with art and design at the V&A, cross Exhibition Road for the Natural History Museum’s extraordinary Romanesque architecture and finish with science, technology and industrial design at the Science Museum.
Three enormous museums in one day can become exhausting. Choose one major museum—ideally the V&A—and treat the other two as focused visits of around 60–90 minutes.

From Victorian design to contemporary art
V&A → Royal Albert Hall → Serpentine South → Serpentine North
After the V&A, walk through the architecture of Albertopolis towards the Royal Albert Hall and the Albert Memorial. Continue into Kensington Gardens for the Serpentine’s two contemporary-art spaces.
The transition is particularly rewarding: from the densely installed V&A to exhibitions experienced within the open landscape of Hyde Park.

Design across South Kensington
V&A → Leighton House → Design Museum
Start with the V&A’s global decorative-arts collections, continue to Leighton House, the intensely personal studio-home created by Victorian painter Frederic Leighton, and finish at the Design Museum in Kensington.
The route moves from encyclopaedic museum to artist’s interior and finally to contemporary product, graphic, fashion and architectural design.
