Artlovers Tip

Combine it with other Camberwell / South London art spaces rather than crossing town for a single short stop.

Don’t miss The Print Room and bookshop — they extend the visit beyond the exhibition itself.

Nearby route ideas

South London photography route

Graces Mews → South London Gallery → Camberwell / Peckham independent spaces

A strong route combining photography with contemporary art and artist-led spaces.

Photography + publishing route

Graces Mews → specialist photobook stop → The Photographers’ Gallery

Good for travellers interested in the relationship between photography, print and publishing.

Camberwell art walk

Graces Mews → Camberwell College of Arts area → South London Gallery

The route I would prioritise for Artlovers: compact, local and much more coherent geographically than sending visitors back into central London.

About the venue

About

Graces Mews is an independent photography gallery in Camberwell, South London, with a programme focused on photography and film. Located at 9–10 Grace’s Mews, the gallery presents both commercial and non-commercial exhibitions alongside public programmes, publications and specialist photography resources. Its identity extends beyond the exhibition space through a Print Room, darkroom facilities, archival storage and a ground-floor shop dedicated to photobooks, artist collaborations and ephemera. Recent exhibitions have explored analogue photography, experimental film, photographic assemblage and staged image-making. For art travellers, Graces Mews is a strong specialist stop for contemporary photography and works particularly well as part of a wider South London art route with Camberwell and South London Gallery.

Worth the trip

Because Graces Mews feels closer to the working culture of photography than to a polished museum experience. Exhibitions sit alongside a Print Room, darkroom facilities, archival storage and a specialist photography shop run by DoBeDo.
