Espacio Conde Duque Madrid is a major multidisciplinary cultural centre located in a historic 18th-century Baroque barracks near Malasaña and Plaza de España. Built from 1717 for the Royal Guards Corps and designed by Pedro de Ribera, the complex has been transformed into one of Madrid’s most important municipal cultural hubs. Today it houses contemporary exhibition spaces, theatre, music, archives, libraries, the Hemeroteca Municipal and the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Madrid.
Its programme combines visual art, photography, performance, public events and institutions dedicated to preserving the city’s cultural memory. For art travellers, Conde Duque is especially valuable as a flexible, programme-driven destination that can be combined with nearby Museo Cerralbo, Palacio de Liria and the galleries and cafés of Malasaña.
