An era builds cities. An hour destroys them.
A city can be built over decades — and transformed in a single instant. Here, Madrid and Havana become geometry, memory, and visual tension.

The Movement
Abstract Expressionism, Contemporary Art, PhotoArtLovers Tip
After seeing the show, walk through Madrid differently. Look up at façades, corners, windows, shadows, and empty spaces. The exhibition trains your eye to see the city not only as a place you move through, but as a composition constantly being built, erased, and rebuilt.
Exhibition Highlights - What you’ll see
Pictorial photography, geometric abstraction, urban abstraction, and photography-painting dialogue.
The project brings together the photographic gaze of two painters — Águeda de la Pisa and David Beltrán — toward two cities that have inspired them: Madrid and Havana. Their work explores how urban distribution can become a visual language between the real and the abstract.
Through scale, framing, rotation, repetition, and altered points of view, everyday urban reality loses its recognizable identity. The city stops being a background and becomes composition: lines, rhythm, structure, voids, surfaces, color.
You’re watching:
- Madrid and Havana translated into geometry
- Photography that behaves like painting
- Urban fragments emptied of their usual references
- A play between what we see and what we think we see
- Reality becoming abstraction from within reality itself
Worth the trip
If you’re interested in cities, abstraction, and photography that changes perception.
Because this exhibition is not just about urban space. It is about how cities are built, consumed, transformed, and sometimes erased by the very forces that create them.
How to experience it
Don’t look for postcard views of Madrid or Havana — look for structure
Step back first: let the images read as abstract compositions
Move closer: search for traces of the city hidden inside the geometry
Notice repetition, rotation, scale, and framing
Think about what disappears when a city becomes image
