Exhibition Highlights - What you'll see

Join us at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza for a special look at fifty incredible works by Pablo Picasso and Paul Klee.

These masterpieces, on loan from Berlin’s Museum Berggruen and the Neue Nationalgalerie, were once the personal favorites of the legendary art dealer and collector Heinz Berggruen.

At first glance, Picasso and Klee might seem like total opposites. Picasso’s work is full of the bold, earthy energy of Southern Europe, while Klee’s art feels more quiet, thoughtful, and spiritual. But look closer and you’ll find a shared, daring spirit. Both artists were true radicals who broke apart reality in their own unique ways, forever changing how we all see the world today.

We’ve organized the exhibition into four easy-to-explore themes—‘Portraits and Masks,’ ‘Sites,’ ‘Things,’ and ‘Harlequins and Nudes’—to show you exactly where their creative paths crossed. We’ve also woven in selected pieces from our own Thyssen collection to highlight the deep bond between these two iconic artists and the man who brought their visions together.
