Inside the exhibition
Traversing the 20th Century. Drawing and Sculpture in the ICO Collections
Discover the heart of the collection at the Museo ICO.
Come and see how the world's major social and political changes shaped the way artists play with lines, shapes, and space.
Works by thirty-four highly talented creators, including sculptors and architects, are brought together, spanning from the early 1900s to the 1980s. By pairing the sculptures with their original drawings, we offer a unique "behind-the-scenes" look at the creative process and the fascinating conversation between a sketch on paper and a finished three-dimensional form.
The exhibition features legendary names from the early avant-garde and the Cubist movement, such as Pablo Picasso, Julio González, and Juan Gris. You will also find contemporary works by Miquel Barceló and Susana Solano, alongside icons of Spanish art like Carmen Laffón, Eduardo Chillida, and Jorge Oteiza.
It is a wonderful opportunity to see how art evolved over the decades, moving from the delicate beauty of paper to the powerful presence of solid matter.
