Punta della Dogana, situated at the tip of Venice’s Dorsoduro district, is a striking contemporary art museum belonging to the Pinault Collection.

Housed in a historic former customs building, the museum showcases a diverse array of contemporary artworks from the Pinault Collection’s extensive holdings. Renovated by architect Tadao Ando, the space offers a stunning setting for innovative exhibitions and installations by leading international artists. With its prime location overlooking the Grand Canal, Punta della Dogana has become a must-visit destination for art enthusiasts seeking a unique and immersive cultural experience in Venice.

The Pinault Collection was awarded the tender in 2007, and entrusted the restoration of the imposing complex to architect Tadao Ando. In June 2009, after 14 months of work, Punta della Dogana reopened to the public and since then has been presenting temporary exhibitions.

Together with Palazzo Grassi and the Teatrino, it is one of the three exhibition spaces of the Pinault Collection in Venice.

Experience art in Venice

Italy

Venice is a city where art does not live inside museums only — it floats through palaces, churches, canals, biennials, private collections and contemporary pavilions.

For art lovers, Venice is not just a destination. It is a stage where every façade, bridge, church and canal becomes part of the experience. Avoid rushing Venice. Choose one main art area per day — Dorsoduro, San Marco, Castello, Giudecca — and let the city reveal itself between visits.
