A contemporary art stop hidden inside one of Madrid’s most historic buildings. Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Madrid — MAC is where the city’s modern imagination, urban memory and avant-garde spirit meet inside Conde Duque.

The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Madrid is located in the former Cuartel de Conde Duque, at Calle Conde Duque 9–11. It belongs to Madrid City Council and shows part of the city’s modern and contemporary art collection in a cultural complex that also hosts exhibitions, music, theatre, archives and public programs.

The museum is especially interesting because it connects contemporary art with Madrid’s own cultural history. One of its most distinctive highlights is the reconstructed study of Ramón Gómez de la Serna, a central figure of Madrid’s early 20th-century avant-garde, presented almost like a museum within the museum.
