Located at 2 East 91st Street, inside the landmark Andrew Carnegie Mansion, Cooper Hewitt is the only museum in the United States devoted exclusively to historical and contemporary design. Its collection includes more than 215,000 design objects spanning 30 centuries, from textiles and drawings to furniture, product design, wallcoverings, graphics, decorative arts and digital design.

The setting matters. Unlike a neutral white-cube museum, Cooper Hewitt places design inside a former Gilded Age mansion, with galleries, garden, historic interiors and contemporary exhibition spaces working together. It feels intimate, elegant and very New York.
