Description
The exhibition draws from the long history of the Asia Pacific Triennial to present artistic practices across an enormous region without pretending they form one coherent style. Indigenous knowledge, colonial histories, migration, belief and contemporary politics appear through painting, photography, installation and material practice. The strength lies precisely in its variety. It encourages visitors to understand “Asia-Pacific contemporary art” as many overlapping histories rather than one category.
More than 40 artists and creative practitioners are represented, including pioneering and emerging voices from Asia, Australia and the Pacific.
