ModernismExhibition Highlights - What you'll see
Join us for a closer look at the life and work of 20th-century Swiss artist Niklaus Stoecklin (1896–1982). We are delighted to showcase a selection of his paintings and drawings created between the 1920s and the 1970s, featuring several special pieces that have rarely been seen by the public.
Born into a merchant family in Basel, Niklaus showed a natural gift for drawing from the time he was a young boy. His formal training began at the School of Applied Arts in Munich in early 1914, but the outbreak of World War I soon brought him back home to Basel. He continued to develop his craft there, briefly attending the local Arts and Crafts School.
