Highly recommended — particularly for contemporary visual culture.

Three things make it particularly attractive:

strong curatorial identity + central location + free admission.

It is also a location worth checking repeatedly because every exhibition cycle creates a different experience.

Worth the trip

Because La Virreina approaches the image as something to question, not simply admire. Its exhibitions move between photography, cinema, archives, contemporary art, politics and visual culture, often presenting artists and thinkers outside the conventional museum circuit.
