Tate St Ives — Cornwall
Abstract Expressionism... / Painting
1+ museums, galleries and art spaces in St Ives we love — the top art stops that always offer something worth seeing, from iconic collections to hidden cultural gems.
Tate St Ives stands directly above Porthmeor Beach on the town’s Atlantic side. The historic fishing harbour is only a short walk away, but the museum faces the more exposed coastline associated with surfing, storms and dramatic evening light.
St Ives itself is part of the experience: narrow lanes, converted fishing buildings, studios and small galleries preserve traces of the artistic community that developed here during the twentieth century.
Parking in the centre is limited. Arriving by train from St Erth is often the most enjoyable option—the branch line follows the coast before reaching St Ives.
