Jenny Holzer. Wrong Answers is on view at Serralves Museum and Library in Porto, Portugal, from 18 June to 1 November 2026. It is the first solo exhibition by Jenny Holzer in Portugal and presents the American artist’s long investigation into how language circulates through public space, institutions, media and systems of authority.

The exhibition follows Holzer’s practice from her early text-based works, including Truisms and Inflammatory Essays, to later installations using stone, robotic LED panels, painting, drawing and other sculptural supports. The show also includes works that engage with redacted government documents, connecting the visibility of language with what is hidden, erased or controlled.

At Serralves, Wrong Answers feels particularly timely because it treats words not as neutral information, but as a contested space. Holzer’s art asks what happens when language is amplified, repeated, censored or broken — and why looking at words can be as unsettling as looking at images.
