Inside the exhibition

The Latest Painting / La última pintura is on view at the Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo — CAAC — in Seville, Spain, from 19 June 2026 to 28 February 2027. The exhibition presents a large survey of painting currently being produced in Andalusia, curated by Curro González and Alberto Figueroa.

The show brings together 32 artists and more than 200 works, placing 27 younger artists in conversation with five established figures from earlier generations. Rather than defending painting as a separate or superior medium, the exhibition uses it as a way to read the variety of contemporary visual practice: figuration, abstraction, memory, pop references, narrative, repetition, transformation and material experimentation.

What makes La última pintura especially useful is its regional focus. It offers a snapshot of Andalusian painting without reducing it to a single style or school. At CAAC, inside the former Cartuja monastery, the exhibition becomes both a survey and a question: not whether painting is still alive, but how many different forms it can take now.
