Paolo Roversi. Doubts
Paolo Roversi doesn’t photograph fashion as surface. He turns it into atmosphere: light, silence, shadow, presence — and doubt. Contemporary fashion photography, portraiture, experimental Polaroid, atmospheric photography and poetic image-making.

et doubt stay open. Roversi’s photographs are powerful because they don’t close the image with certainty. A face, a dress, a shadow, a gesture — everything seems to appear and disappear at the same time. Stay with that uncertainty. That is where the beauty begins.
Exhibition Highlights - What you'll see
Step into the poetic world of Paolo Roversi this summer. The MOP Center in A Coruña invites you to "Doubts," a warm and personal journey through the 40-year career of one of fashion’s most legendary photographers.
Born in Ravenna in 1947, Roversi is a true master of light, and this special show brings together his most famous works alongside never-before-seen images that are sure to capture your heart.
Over the last four decades, Roversi has developed a style that is entirely his own. His photos have a way of coming to life right before your eyes—a quality that critic Vince Aletti describes as so moving that the images can’t be confined to a simple page or wall. Roversi chose the title "Doubts" because he believes that while being certain can close off our minds, having doubts is what actually sparks creativity and imagination.
As you explore the exhibition, you’ll find yourself in a series of interconnected spaces, each highlighting a different side of his art—from Shadows and Appearances to Grace and Beauty. You’ll see his long-standing love for the experimental magic of Polaroids and his belief that true beauty is often found in the quietest moments. Inspired by greats like Robert Frank and Erwin Blumenfeld, Roversi’s work is an invitation to slow down and find the wonder in the shadows and the spaces between things.
Doubts brings together celebrated photographs and unpublished works, creating an intimate journey through Roversi’s creative universe. The exhibition is structured as a sequence of interconnected rooms, each exploring a different dimension of his aesthetic: Theatre, Appearances, Shadows, Doubts, People, Presence, Grace, Beauty and Fading.
You’re watching:
- Fashion photography transformed into emotional portraiture
- Faces, bodies and garments emerging from shadow and softness
- Polaroid as experiment, not nostalgia
- Beauty treated as something fragile, silent and unstable
- A photographer using uncertainty as part of the creative process
The result feels less like a fashion exhibition and more like walking through different states of light.
Worth the trip
Yes if you love photography, fashion, portraiture and images that feel timeless.
This exhibition matters because Roversi has shaped one of the most poetic languages in contemporary fashion photography. Instead of speed, gloss and excess, his work often moves through slowness, softness and mystery.
At MOP Foundation in A Coruña, Doubts becomes a strong art-and-fashion destination: a summer exhibition built around one of the major photographers who made fashion image-making feel intimate, painterly and almost spiritual.
How to experience it
Don’t move too fast — Roversi’s images need silence.
Look at light first, then the figure.
Notice how blur, shadow and softness create emotion.
Pay attention to what is withheld: the image often becomes stronger because it does not explain everything.
Move through the rooms as moods rather than chapters.
